Group Fitness FAQs

How many classes are offered a week by RAM Group Fitness?

There are between 20-30 classes are offered weekly within the semester.

What do I need to do to be able to participate in RAM Group Fitness?

You must be a current WCU student or member of the Student Recreation Center.

Does it cost anything to participate?

RAM Group Fitness classes are free to the WCU students and members of the Student Recreation Center.

Where are RAM Group Fitness classes located?

Classes are located on the first and second floor of the Student Recreation Center. There are 3 studios:

  • Room 020 = Studio A
  • Room 024 = Studio B
  • Room 105 = Studio C

Are there sign ups for the classes?

Participation is on a first come, first serve basis. Dependent on the room size and session format, it is up to the instructor to decide the safe number of participants.

How difficult or strenuous are the classes?

Difficulty depends on the class format and personal fitness levels. Class descriptions can be found on the back of the Group Fitness class schedule or online. All fitness levels are encouraged and welcomed.

How do I become a RAM Group Fitness Instructor?

Employment Application

Drop off applications at the Student Recreation Center. Applications must be filled out completely and must include two letters of reference.

We are always accepting applications for instructors certified in AFAA, AAAI/ISMA, ACE, NETA, or other specialty certifications such as Yoga, Piloxing®, PiYo™, BODYPUMP™, and more.

What kind of training have the Group Fitness Instructors had?

Our Group Fitness instructors are hired through Campus Recreation. All of our instructors are current WCU students. The instructors are certified through accredited and nationally reconized fitness organizations, or are certified in specific formats such as Piloxing®, Zumba®, PiYo™ and more!
