Why Does the CTQA Host Lavender Graduation?
Lavender Graduation celebrates graduating undergraduate and graduate students, who are identify as LGBTQIA+ as well as the allies and advocates who support them. We acknowledge their achievements, contributions, and distinctive experiences at West Chester University. For decades, students at colleges and universities have celebrated their achievements at this celebration.
For students, Lavender Graduation is a chance to celebrate their achievements with their family and friends. This ceremony empowers students of all races and ethnicities with the opportunity to share their hopes and dreams while having their unique experiences recognized by the university. Staff and faculty acknowledge LGBTQ+ students’ leadership, success, achievements, and contributions to the university.
Through such recognition, LGBTQ+ students leave the university with a positive last experience and are encouraged to become active mentors for future students. All are welcome, come be authentically you.
