Georgia Wright Wins Two National Titles At NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

Distance swimmer Georgia Wright (Doncaster, United Kingdom) successfully defended her national title in the 1650-yard freestyle while also picking up an All-America certificate by placing eighth in the 200 backstroke on the final night of competition at the 2018 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center Saturday night.

Her homeland may boast of the House of Windsor, but the House of Wright is what landed West Chester University in 11th place in the team standings. Her two national titles and four Top Eight performances played a major role in the Golden Rams' high finish at nationals.

Wright won her fourth NCAA individual title overall, successfully defending both crowns in the 1000 and 1650 free which she originally won at the 2017 championships. She is a seven-time All-American, adding top eight finishes in the 500 free each of the past two seasons and a citation in the 200 backstroke, which she collected Saturday night.

Wright captured the 1650 title, swimming the longest individual event in 16 minutes, 25.78 seconds, topping her nearest competitor from California Baptist by five seconds.
