WCU’s Wells School of Music Presents the WCU Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, November 16Symphony Orchestra

West Chester University’s esteemed Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Paul Bryon, will perform in concert on Saturday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. The concert is FREE and open to the public. It is also available to be viewed by livestream at: https://vimeo.com/wsom

Titled Sensational Saint-Saëns, the program celebrates the music of Camille Saint-Saëns and  features performers Dr. Emily Bullock, mezzo-soprano, and Thomas Hsu, piano.

Concerto Competition winner Hsu will perform the first movement from the Piano Concerto No. 2. Dr. Emily Bullock introduces two selections from Samson and Delilah with the delicate and seductive “Mon coeur s’ouvre á ta voix,” which is then contrasted by the raucous “Bacchanale.”  The program closes with the epic Symphony No. 3, “Organ.”

The 70-member WCU Symphony Orchestra is a student ensemble that performs 5 - 6 concerts per year, both on and off campus. They perform standard symphonic repertoire as well as new compositions. Each Spring they perform in the annual Concert on the Quad. Off campus concerts have been in established venues such as the Kimmel Center.

Remaining Symphony Orchestra concerts for the 2024-25 Season are on February 16, 2025, March 2, 2025, and a concert with combined choirs on April 25, 2025. More information can be   found at: https://www.wcupa.edu/music/eventsCalendar.aspx
