Wells School of Music’s September Programs Include Faculty Recitals and Free Student Concerts
West Chester University’s (WCU) Wells School of Music (WSOM) invites the community
to enjoy exciting free faculty recitals and student concerts throughout the 2025-26 academic
year. In September, concerts will showcase the extraordinary talent of WSOM faculty
and students.
Known for their performances with professional ensembles and orchestras throughout the region, Wells School of Music faculty bring their expertise and artistry to campus stages—providing audiences with world-class performances in state-of-the-art venues, all free and open to the public.

Monday, September 8 – Faculty Recital: Ralph Sorrentino, Percussion
7:30 p.m., Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts

Thursday, September 11 – Faculty Jazz Concert and Jam Session
7:30 p.m., Windish Studios, 4 W. Prescott Alley, West Chester, PA
Join the Wells School of Music jazz faculty in a concert and jam session to kick off the 2025–26 season, continuing our partnership with Windish Entertainment. Located just off High Street in Prescott Alley, Windish Studios—founded by Criterions alum Mike Windish—brings jazz performances to a vibrant club atmosphere.

Friday, September 19 – Concert on the Quad

This annual outdoor tradition brings the Wells School of Music to the heart of campus. Join the Criterions, the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra, and the WCU Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band for a showcase concert under the stars. More details to follow as this concert will also serve as a literal “kick-off” to the 2025 WCU Golden Rams football season.

Off with a Bang – A Tchaikovsky Celebration – conducted by Paul Bryan

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36
The West Chester University Symphony Orchestra opens its 2025-26 season with the romantic, emotionally intense, and melodically rich music of Tchaikovsky. The program features Wells School of Music faculty member Dr. Ovidiu Marinescu as soloist in the Rococo Variations and the beauty and energy of the Fourth Symphony.
Monday, September 29 – Faculty Recital: Gloria Galante, Harp
7:30 p.m., Ware Recital Hall, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817

The Wells School of Music produces over 100 events each season, spanning genres from classical to jazz, opera to new music, and beyond. With performances by faculty, students, guest artists, and ensembles, the WSOM continues its tradition of serving as a cultural hub for the campus and surrounding community.
