For the first time, the event moves to an evening in September to celebrate the start of the fall semester and to serve as a spirited kick off to the first home football game of the season the next day on Saturday, September 20. It also marks the beginning of a new season of public concerts and programs hosted by the Wells School of Music throughout the 2025-26 academic year.

Concert on the Quad will feature performances by The WCU Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band, The WCU Symphony Orchestra, and The Criterions Jazz Ensemble, all performing selections that audience members of all ages will enjoy. WCU President Laurie Bernotsky will welcome the crowd.

The event will launch a host of spirited activities on Saturday, September 20, to celebrate the football home opener of the season featuring:

  • a pre-game pep rally with the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Pep Band
  • a “Kids’ Zone” with FREE face painting, photos with Rammy, games, and water ice
  • a WCU student “Purple Pit” that includes FREE food, live band, games, and swag (sponsored by Saloon 151 & Station 142)
  • a 1:15 p.m. Tomlinson-Fillippo Field Naming Ceremony & unveiling of the new video score board

Additional details on football events can be found at https://www.wcupa.edu/communications/save-the-date-football.aspx.

“This concert has always been about bringing people together,” says Director of the WCU Symphony Orchestra Paul Bryan. “By moving it to the start of the season, we’re able to unite the power of music with the excitement of football and invite our campus and community to discover everything the Wells School of Music offers year-round and to cheer on our Golden Rams before their home opener.”

Now in its ninth year, Concert on the Quad continues WCU’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion as part of the Neuro-Inclusive Campus Environment (N.I.C.E.) Program. Attendees can expect ASL interpretation, trained volunteers, large print and digital programs, therapy dogs, an instrument “petting zoo,” and a visit from WCU’s beloved mascot, Rammy. The event will also feature clear signage for accessibility to ensure that all community members feel welcome.

The Concert on the Quad has become a signature West Chester tradition—one that blends music and community spirit in an unforgettable open-air setting. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be relocated to Asplundh Hall. More information about Wells School of Music public concerts throughout the year found here.
