West Chester University Golden Rams Launch Reimagined Football Experience with Family-Friendly Season

All new game-day activities, Kids’ Zone, and pre-game festivities promise something for everyone

West Chester University is transforming the traditional college football experience with an exciting reimagined approach that welcomes the entire community to join the Golden Ram family. The season kicks off with a spectacular home opener on Saturday, September 20, when the Golden Rams take on Seton Hill at 2 p.m. in Farrell Stadium, 855 South New Street in West Chester, marking the beginning of five thrilling home games this fall. Lots of pre-game fun will happen right before game day and all are invited to join in!

“Football is more fun with friends, and we’re extending that invitation to everyone in our community,” said WCU Director of Athletics Terry Beattie. “We’ve created an atmosphere where members of our community, families, students, alumni, and neighbors can come together for an unforgettable game day experience that celebrates our Golden Ram spirit.”

FREE Concert on the Quad on September 19

The first home game of the season will be ushered in the night before with a free outdoor concert that will be open to all students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Presented by the University’s Wells School of Music on September 19, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m., Concert on the Quad will feature performances by The WCU Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band, The WCU Symphony Orchestra, and The Criterions Jazz Ensemble just outside of Main Hall, located at 720 S. High Street in West Chester, PA. Audience members can expect musical moments that create instant connections across all generations.

GAME DAY ON SEPTEMBER 20 Will Be A FULL DAY of Golden Ram Pride

Pep Rally at 11:30 a.m.

Featuring the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Pep Band, the excitement will begin early on North Campus with a high-energy pep rally at 11:30 a.m. outside of the Sciences Engineering Center and the Commons (SECC). Students, faculty, staff, and members of the community can grab free swag and sweet treats while building excitement for kickoff.

Purple Pit for WCU Students Opens at 12:00 p.m.

WCU students are invited to their very own pre-game section featuring:

  • Live band, EchoZone
  • Food trucks & free food
  • Games
  • Free WCU swag

The Purple Pit is presented by Saloon 151 and Station 142. Purple Pit access is free with a WCU Student Ram Card!

Brand New Kids’ Zone Debuts & Opens at 12:30 p.m.

Young Golden Ram fans will have their own dedicated space with the launch of a super fun Kids’ Zone that will open at 12:30 p.m. in Farrell Stadium, located at 855 South New Street in West Chester, PA. Kids’ Zone access is included with game-day entry! Little Rams will have a ball with their own pre-game section that will feature:

  • Mini football field with interactive games
  • Face painting
  • Photos with WCU’s beloved mascot, Rammy
  • Water ice
  • Free WCU swag
  • Much, much more!

Honoring The Legacy of Golden Rams at 1:15 p.m.

Golden Ram legends Robert “Tommy” Tomlinson ‘70 and Tom Fillippo ‘69 will be honored during the Tomlinson-Fillippo Field Naming Ceremony at Farrell Stadium. Plus, the generosity of Agnes and Roger Ware ‘82 will be acknowledged for the University’s new video score board.

Ram Walk at 2:00 p.m.

WCU’s Golden Ram football team will charge through a spirit tunnel and then take on Seton Hill University!
