Follow Dauntless Battalion ROTC-
Vision: The Dauntless Battalion is a storied military organization producing courageous and determined future leaders of the U.S. Army. Founded upon the pillars of hard work, humility and empathy, these men and women are prepared for the rigors of warfare with an unshakable will to win.
Army ROTC is the largest officer-producing organization with the American military, having over 600,000 men and women have earned a commission through the program. Among them are two chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, seven Army chiefs of staff, two Cabinet secretaries and a sitting Supreme Court associate justice. Few other military commissioning sources can claim such significant lineage.
West Chester ROTC (Charlie company) is one company out three schools, and all cadets within the company (Widener and Villanova) come together every week to enhance their skills and network outside of their home campus.
Benefits and Support
Leadership
Army ROTC is more than a class. It is a leadership experience that prepares you for success in college and beyond. You will learn how to lead teams, communicate with confidence, and manage your time effectively. These are not just Army skills. They are life skills that will help you stand out in the classroom, in your career, and in any challenge you take on.
Through ROTC, you will build discipline, responsibility, and confidence while receiving support from instructors and peers who are invested in your growth. You will practice leadership in real situations and develop the presence that inspires others to follow your lead.
Many of America’s most respected leaders, including General Colin Powell, began their journey in ROTC. Whether you complete four years or just one semester, the leadership and management skills you gain will stay with you for life.
If you see yourself as a leader, or want to become one, Army ROTC will provide the support, training, and opportunities to take that next step.
Experience
Following graduation, most Cadets who are commissioned will serve on active duty for at least four years. New officers start with a salary of more than $33,000 a year, plus tax-free allowances for housing and food that significantly increase overall income.
Army ROTC also provides experiences that go far beyond the classroom. Cadets train in real-world environments, participate in summer programs, and may have opportunities for cultural immersion or study abroad. Along the way, they gain valuable certifications, hands-on field training, and practical skills that apply directly to both military and civilian careers.
Cadets also benefit from a strong network of mentors, alumni, and peers who provide guidance and support throughout college and beyond. These connections, combined with guaranteed career opportunities after graduation, make ROTC one of the most secure and rewarding pathways available to students.
After completing their service obligation, many officers are highly sought after by leading companies for their proven management experience, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure. Employers recognize that ROTC graduates bring qualities that make them stand out in any field.
In today’s competitive job market, the experience gained through Army ROTC provides an edge that lasts a lifetime—whether you continue your career in the Army or transition into the civilian workforce.
Scholarship Cadets
Army ROTC scholarships open the door to earning your degree with less financial stress. Scholarship Cadets receive monthly living support, funding for academic expenses, and are paid during summer training, which allows them to focus more on college and leadership development instead of worrying about how to pay for school.
In addition to covering tuition, Scholarship Cadets receive a monthly stipend of $420, are paid for advanced training, and are provided $1,200 each academic year to help with books and supplies. At West Chester University, these benefits are further supported by access to campus-based scholarship opportunities and resources that can make college even more affordable.
For many students, this means graduating with a degree, commissioning as an Army officer, and beginning a career with a strong financial foundation and little to no student debt.
Other Benefits
Army ROTC offers more than financial assistance. Cadets enjoy a wide range of additional benefits that enhance both their college experience and personal development:
