WHAT?
FYE@WCU is a dynamic, 4-credit course designed to introduce you to every facet of university life and set you up for success—academically, personally, and professionally. Rooted in the values of a liberal arts education, FYE emphasizes broad, interdisciplinary knowledge alongside critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and professional skills. Our mission is to help you grow into a well-rounded, independent thinker who can contribute meaningfully to your community and the world.
All FYE classes meet in person, combining large, lecture-style sessions with smaller, interactive breakout groups. Each FYE 100 course also includes online components to support your learning. If you're entering WCU as a First-Year student or a Transfer student with fewer than 24 credits, your department or program will schedule your FYE class for you.
