Drop & Go 2025 Plan

Moving into your residence hall means bringing a lot of stuff to campus! At WCU, we aim to make the process as simple as possible to help you get moved in and settled down. You'll have two options for move in (select one):

1. Drop and Go (August 17 and 18) - register for a Drop and Go timeslot. During your Drop and Go timeslot, you'll arrive at your residence hall, move your belongings into your room or suite, decorate and set up your room, and then return to your home. You will be assigned an arrival timeslot on either August 21 or August 22 between 8am and 4pm (based on your residence hall and floor number) to return to campus. You won't have access to your room/suite between Drop and Go and your arrival time later in the week. If you choose the Drop and Go option, your arrival timeslot on August 21 or 22 will not include access to the unloading zone, so be sure to move in as much as possible during Drop and Go.

OR

2. Move-in Days (August 21 and 22) - register for a Move-in timeslot. During your Move-in Day timeslot, you'll arrive at your residence hall's unloading zone and move your belongings into your room/suite. If you choose Move-in Day, you'll select a timeslot on either August 21 or August 22 based on your residence hall and floor number. You will access your room/suite for the first time that day.

Drop and Go is a special early move-in opportunity that lets students bring their belongings to campus before the official move-in days. Once your items are dropped off and your room is set up, you'll return home and then come back to campus for your official arrival day and time with less to carry and more time to settle in.

What Do I do on August 21st or August 22nd if I participate in Drop and Go?

  1. Arrive on campus at your scheduled arrival time.
  2. Park in your building's designated long-term parking lot.
  3. Proceed directly to your hall's front desk to collect move-in packet.
  4. Carry any remaining belongings with you from long-term parking to your residence hall room or suite. No move-in carts will be available if you've participated in Drop and Go.

Am I guaranteed a time slot for Drop and Go?

No. Drop and Go has a limited number of available time slots, and they fill up quickly. If you'd like to take advantage of Drop and Go, we strongly encourage you to sign up for drop and go during move-in timeslot selection beginning July 16, 2025, through your respective housing provider housing portal. Students will either select a drop and go time that is available or a move-in day timeslot.

Are all roommates required to participate in Drop and Go?

No, Drop and Go is an individualized process.

Can students access their room after Drop and Go hours are over?

No, students will not have access to their rooms after Drop and Go ends each day. Drop and Go is designed to allow time-limited access for unloading and setup only. Once the scheduled hours conclude, all rooms and buildings will be secured, and student access will be restricted until arrival day.

Here's how it works based on where your student is living:

  • USH Affiliated Housing (University Student Housing):
Students will be required to return their room key before departing on Drop and Go. You will check in on your arrival at the Front Desk to receive your keys. Security and access controls will be enforced.
  • WCU Managed Housing:
    • Students will not have access after hours.
    • When they check in for drop and go, a Residence Life and Housing (RLH) staff member will walk students to their room and unlock their room.
    • Students will then be able to move all their belongings in and decorate within the two-hour window.
    • Once that timeframe concludes, students will stop by the front desk of their residence hall information staff that they are leaving. RLH staff will walk to the student's room and lock the door securing all belongings.
    • Once the student leaves, they will return on the assigned move-in day for their building and floor and directly check in at the building front desk to pick up your official move-in packet.

It's important to plan accordingly–Drop and Go is a convenient chance to move belongings into your residence hall early, set up your room/suite, and make your official arrival day much easier. It is not an overnight stay option.

Can students stay in their residence halls after Drop and Go?

No, students are not permitted to stay overnight after Drop and Go. This time is for dropping off and setting up only. Students will return to campus on their assigned arrival day to officially check in.

Can returning students participate in Drop and Go?

No. Drop and Go is only allowed for incoming new students.
