Do first year students live on campus?
About 90% of first year students (often referred to as freshmen) live on campus. On campus housing at West Chester University is prioritized for first year students. It is recommended to apply for housing as early as possible.
Do I need to commit to attending West Chester University before I can apply for housing?
Yes. Before you can apply to on campus housing you must be accepted to West Chester University and you must submit the enrollment deposit in the ADMISSIONS PORTAL
When can I apply to live in WCU Managed or USH Managed?
The WCU Managed housing application and the USH Managed housing application for first year students and transfer students (students beginning at WCU fall semester 2023) opened on March 6, 2023.
How do I apply for housing?
There are two housing providers on campus at WCU, each with their own housing application. Choose your housing provider and apply to one:

What is the difference between WCU Managed and USH Managed?
WCU Managed housing is often referred to as “traditional” or “community-style” housing.
In a WCU Managed residence hall you will have one room shared with 2-3 roommates and
communal, shared bathrooms on each floor. WCU Managed residents are assigned a residence
hall and room.
WCU Managed housing rates range from $1931.00 - $2897.00 per semester.
USH Managed housing is West Chester’s newest residence hall buildings and are often
referred to as “suite-stye" or “affiliated” housing. In a USH Managed residence hall
you will have an in-suite bathroom shared with your roommates. USH Managed offers
various floor plans including 1-3 bedrooms per suite containing 1-2 beds per bedroom.
USH residents may select a preferred residence hall and floor plan.
USH Managed housing rates range from $4800.00 - $5625.00 per semester.

What residence halls do first year students live in?
There are two on campus housing providers: WCU Managed (traditional, community-style
housing) and USH Managed (suite-style housing). First year students may choose to
apply to one.
First year students live steps away from classes, dining, and student life in one
of these residence halls:
WCU Managed:
Goshen Hall, Killinger Hall, Schmidt Hall, Tyson Hall
or
USH Managed:
Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, Commonwealth Hall, University Hall
How do I set-up my WCU email and myWCU (@wcupa.edu)?
After you’ve been accepted to West Chester University and after you pay the enrollment deposit, you’ll be able to set-up your West Chester University account (@wcupa.edu).

Can I pick my roommate?
Yes, you may select roommate(s). If you don’t have a roommate, you may enter our roommate matching program. More details will be sent via your WCU email this spring.
When can I select a meal plan?
Meal plan selection is open. First year on campus housing residents must choose the Ultimate, Gold or Purple meal plan.

All housing communications including important dates and information will be sent to your West Chester University email (@wcupa.edu). Please check your email often.
Beginning in early spring, you will receive the Housing Checklist with tasks to complete before move-in including:
- Roommate Selection
You may choose your roommate or enter our roommate matching program. - Housing Eligibility Form
Before you are eligible to live on campus, you are required to complete the Housing Eligibility Form. The Housing Eligibility Form is a state-mandated criminal conduct and disciplinary history screening questionnaire.
- Meningitis Waiver Form
Before you are eligible to live on campus, you are required to complete the Meningitis Waiver Form. - Select a Meal Plan
On-campus residents must select one of these meal plans: Ultimate, Gold or Purple. Meal plans are not required for residents living in on-campus apartments. Learn about Meal Plans - Housing Assignments
For WCU Managed Housing you will be assigned a residence hall. For USH Managed Housing you will select a residence hall. - Move-In Information
First-Year Student move-in August 23 and August 24, 2023. Move-in dates and times are based on your residence hall.
