Community Clay
Community Clay at WCU offers adult ceramics classes taught by current WCU Studio Art Majors. Community Clay students get the opportunity to learn a variety of handbuilding and potter's wheel techniques at various skill levels. 100% of the proceeds from Community Clay go directly to funding undergraduate student activities and scholarships.
Classes are offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer. They fill up quickly, so get your registration completed today!
All classes meet in WCU's E.O. Bull Center for the Arts Ceramics Studio
Spring 2023 Offerings
Beginner Classes
No experience is necessary for this class option. These classes will be offered on Saturdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm starting on January 28th and ending on April 8th.
In this class, students will learn the following techniques:
- pinch pots
- coil building
- slab building
- potter's wheel
- glaze painting
Classes for Returning Students
Some experience is preferred for this class option. These classes will be offered on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm starting on January 28th and ending on April 8th.
In this class, students will learn the following techniques:
- surface decorating
- hand building
- potter's wheel
- glaze painting
Open Studio
Open Studio hours are reserved for students registered in either our Beginner or Returning Community Clay classes. Open Studio hours are Fridays from 5-7pm during the weeks that the Saturday classes are offered. This price includes all materials. All adults are welcome and 100% of the proceeds support student scholarship and internships.

REGISTRATION
All Community Clay classes are $300 for the semester and all materials are included in that cost. As mentioned above, you can also register for open studio time for an additional $150.
