Welcome to the website of the WCU Communication & Media Alumni Advisory Board (AAB)
The Board consists of an esteemed group of graduates from our BA or MA programs who currently work across a diverse range of professions and have interest in “paying it forward” through supporting the Department’s mission of educating tomorrow’s communication professionals.
The Board was initially established by the department in 2019 and aims to includes a diverse range of graduates who currently work across a wide range of communication and media related professions. These fields are in a dynamic state, with new technologies, trends, and even entire industries emerging constantly. Through regular Board events each semester, the Department’s faculty are able to listen to our alumni and incorporate their experiences into our curriculum, on-campus clubs and organizations, and future event programming.
The faculty and chair meet with the advisory board each semester to discuss topics that can assist us in understanding the best practices used by professionals in journalism, television news, advertising, public relations, digital and social media and other areas. Donald Beaver III
Graduation: 2009
Current Occupation: Senior Producer/QC at Lighthouse TV and Adjunct Professor at University of Valley

Favorite Memory at WCU: My group won the Ayers Cup in our Advertising class competition against Villanova.
We developed the winning advertising campaign for the sport Kronum.

Tiffany Caprice
Graduation: COM MAJOR, Film Criticism Minor, PR 2010
Current Occupation: Founder, Creative Director Caprice Collective
Areas of Expertise: (PR, advertising, HR, broadcasting etc. - multiple if applicable): Film/Commercial
Production, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media.
Favorite Memory at WCU: Filming all over campus for our film production classes, including a Wizard of Oz–inspired
promo for the university, was where my love of storytelling really came to life. Getting
to blend WCU’s charm with such an iconic story? Let’s just say, I definitely knew
I wasn’t in Kansas anymore.

Cedric Burgan
Cedric Burgan graduated in 2023 with his BA in Communication Studies. He is currently a talent manager at 1am Talent Group. Prior to that, he did talent management at Shine Talent Group and client relations at Vanguard.

Olivia Kesselman
Olivia Kesselman graduated in 2023 with her BA in Communication Studies. She is currently a Contractor Training Coordinator. at Saint-Gobain North America.

Emma Durnin
Emma Durnin graduated in 2022 with her BA in Communication Studies. She is currently an Editorial Content Writer at Shippensburg University.

Freddrick Shegog
Freddrick Shegog graduated in ‘2022 with his BA in Communication Studies and went on to complete a Masters of Public Administration in 2024. For the last seven years, he has worked as the founder and CEO of The Message LLC.
