Project Activities
- Conduct a literature review on faculty equity and intersectionality
- Attend 2024 ADVANCE Equity in STEM Community Convening (June 2024)
- Meet with representatives from successful ADVANCE programs
- Finalize faculty survey and focus group protocol; obtain IRB approval (July 2024)
- Introduce project to all WCU STEM departments (late September - early October 2024)
- Administer Qualtrics survey to all STEM faculty at WCU (November 2024)
- Conduct focus groups and interviews of WCU STEM faculty and administrators
- Audit current policies and procedures as well as existing institutional data on faculty
career success
- Analyze collected data (from surveys, focus groups, policy audits, etc.) for deductive
and inductive themes
- Based on insights from other ADVANCE programs and data collection at WCU, articulate
1 - 2 equity strategies for implementation at WCU
- Implement pilot equity strategies
- Develop a five-year strategic plan for advancing STEM faculty equity at WCU
