Costs and Scholarships
An Affordable Program in London

Costs
A summary of the total trip cost you will incur to participation will include three types:
- Tuition and Fees
As for any WCU class, you will have to pay tuition and fees. ~$1200 for in-state undergraduate tuition for this 3-credit class. Summer 2026 tuition rates have not been posted yet, but you can compare to Summer 2025 using the tuition calculator here. - Application Fee
A $100 Global Engagement Office application fee that supports GEO. This will be Charged to your WCU account once you click the "Submit Application" button on the on-line application. This is a one time fee. So, if you have applied for a previous International program, this will not be applied a second time. - Flight and Personal Travel
You will be allowed to book your own flight to our destination. I will provide extensive details about which flights are recommended as we get closer to the trip. If you decide to tack on any personal travel at the end of the trip, you will be fully responsible for any of those expenses. The primary concern is the USA to London date and time. We can talk about details later once you have committed to the program and we have enough participation to offer the program. - Program Fees
This will be ~$4500. We are still waiting for the vendor to come back with exact fees, but it is likely to be about this amount. . These will cover the excursions, classroom, administrative costs, some group meals, and group travel while abroad.
The Program fees are due as follows:
- You will be charged the Program fees through your WCU account with the Bursars Office. If this changes, I will notify anyone on my "interested Student" list.
- As mentioned above, this costs does not include flight or tuition. Thus, you are responsible for these as well. I do not include the flight costs here because they can vary greatly depending on your own resources. You will be required to purchase a flight on the class travel dates (travels dates to be determined, please check back for updates), but you can choose to fly from Newark or JFK airports, or even Washington or another location. Flights from the New York City airports typically run about $500 less than flights from Philadelphia. You can also use any frequent flyer points or credit card points that you or your parents or other family or friends have accumulated to further reduce the flight cost. Please see the “Travel Information" page for further details. DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR TICKET UNTIL CONSULTING WITH DR. WAITE ABOUT YOUR FLIGHT!
Financial Aid is available, depending on your Aid Package. There is more information at the GEO Funding page so check there first for various Awards, Grants and Scholarships. Then you should contact your financial aid advisor to find out what your package will cover.
Also, I know that at least one student in the past set up a Go Fund Me type program to solicit donations for family and friends to help alleviate the costs. Sometimes it is surprising how many family friends and family members are willing to throw a few dollars your way for such a great opportunity! See me for details if you are interested.
Scholarships
There are quite a few different scholarships available to you as a WCU student to help you make ends meet and afford the costs of the program. There are grants and scholarships specific to International Programs, as well as more general educational scholarships and grants.
Note that the application deadline for these scholarships and the Global Engagement Office Travel Award for Summer 2026 programs is 4/26/2026. This is, clearly, AFTER we need you to make a commitment to participating in the program. So you will have to plan to cover the program costs without the scholarships, and then you might get a refund if you do end up being awarded some funding from the Global Engagement Office.
Ther is also a New PSECU PASSHE Scholarship for Pell Grant or PHEAA-qualified, Full Time students. Applicants must be in good academic and judicial standing, and preference will be given to students who have no overseas experience. Click the links to the right.
