Distance Education Administrative Services

State Authorizations and Online Education Complaint Process 
Important information for non-Pennsylvania residents considering an online academic program at WCU. Also, in compliance with U.S. Congressional House Rule and U.S. Department of Education rules, an institution offering distance education must provide its students or prospective students with contact information for filing complaints. 

Student Newsletter Archives 
The Office of Digital Learning and Innovation publishes a newsletter for students each fall and spring.

Career Development Center

The Twardowski Career Development Center (TCDC) is the bridge connecting students and alumni to the professional world, introducing them to who they can become. 

The TCDC offers appointments, drop-ins, resources on-demand, and workshops that cover a range of career education topics including major and career exploration, resumes, cover letters, job and internship search, interview preparation, networking, LinkedIn, and graduate school. The TCDC also facilitates opportunities for students to connect with employers and alumni.  Through the TCDC, students have access to: 

    • Handshake (job, internship, employer and event platform)
    • Ram Nation (alumni to student flash mentoring platform)
    • Big Interview (virtual interview prep)
    • MyWorldAbroad (resources for students seeking opportunities abroad)
    • Interstride (resources for international students studying at WCU) 

Learning Assistance and Resource Center (LARC)

The Learning Assistance and Resource Center provides academic support through tutoring and academic success coaching services to promote independent and active learners at West Chester University. 

Students will walk away from the LARC with the ability to:

    • apply learning strategies to promote their own student success in various disciplines.
    • utilize leadership skills in future careers and educational opportunities.
    • identify personal strengths and areas for improvement. 

Library Services 

The WCU Libraries define distance students as students who: 

    • take all their classes online -or-
    • take all their classes at WCU in Philadelphia -or-
    • take all their classes at the Graduate Center -or-
    • take all their classes at the Exton campus -or-
    • take all their classes at the DCCC campus -or-
    • take a combination of online classes, classes at WCU in Philadelphia, classes at the Graduate Center, classes at the Exton campus, and classes at the DCCC campus. 

86% of WCU library material is online, available to you 24/7. This includes: 

    • eBooks
    • Full-text online articles
    • Streaming videos & music

If we don't have it online, you can request it be sent to you. You can also request items WCU doesn't own. 

University College

University College is home to myriad student services including the LARC, OSSD, and the Writing Center. Additionally, University College is home to The Ram's Guide to Success, a resource designed to help students find the tools they need to be successful. WCU is devoted to ensuring that all students have direct access to all the incredible resources that the university environment offers to promote education for success. 

Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (OSSD) 

The Office of Services for Students with Disabilities has put together accessibility tips and resources for distance education students. The guide has suggestions for improving accessibility to D2L, Zoom, and myWCU, among other resources. 

Writing Center 

Writing Center tutors will work with you using Zoom and Google Docs. We can also work with you using the built-in software in our scheduling software, WCOnline. All appointments are all one hour long and registration is necessary.
