YuJa Panorama Accessibility
Integration in D2L

This website explains what YuJa Panorama is, why we are adopting it, timeline for these changes, and direction for upcoming and on-demand training, support, and YuJa Panorama FAQs.

West Chester University is committed to digital accessibility and inclusive learning. Beginning Spring 2026, all D2L Brightspace courses will include YuJa Panorama, a tool that automatically improves course content accessibility and provides students with alternative formats.

This integration supports WCU’s compliance with federal digital accessibility initiatives and enhances the teaching and learning experience.

What is YuJa Panorama?

YuJa Panorama Logo

YuJa Panorama integrates directly with D2L to improve accessibility of course content. It automatically scans uploaded materials (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and provides:

  • Accessibility Reports – Instructors see real-time feedback and tips to improve their documents.
  • Alternative Formats – Students can instantly download course materials in formats that work best for them (e.g., audio, ePub, electronic braille, immersive reader).
  • Accessibility Score Indicators – Simple colored gauges (red, orange, green) show the accessibility level of each file.

Note: WCU has not purchased premium add-ons such as STEM document remediation or advanced reporting.

FAQs

YuJa: Panorama FAQ

What is YuJa Panorama?

YuJa Panorama is an accessibility tool built into D2L. It scans uploaded course files, provides accessibility scores, and offers students alternative format downloads.

Do I need to enable it in my course?

No. Panorama is automatically available in all D2L courses starting Spring 2026.

How will I know if my files are accessible?

Each file in D2L displays a small colored gauge (red, orange, green). Clicking it shows your accessibility score and step-by-step improvement suggestions.

What formats can my students access?

Students can download files as:

  • Audio (MP3)
  • ePub (e-book)
  • Electronic braille
  • Immersive reader (web version)

Does this replace the need for me to make materials accessible?

No. Panorama supports accessibility but does not remove instructor responsibility. Faculty should continue to follow accessibility best practices.

What about videos and Panopto recordings?

Panorama focuses on documents in D2L. Panopto continues to provide captions and accessibility for video content.
