Strategic Applications of Contemporary A Cappella - MWC 537

July 27 - July 31, 2026
In Person - 3 Credits

This graduate-level course centers on the practical application of contemporary a cappella, offering opportunities for students to actively design, lead, and refine ensemble experiences. Building upon foundational concepts from students’ experiences in a cappella, students can engage in rehearsal simulations, applied arranging and production projects, and focused explorations of specialized topics within the field. Rather than covering a wide survey, this course encourages students to deepen their practice by selecting areas of interest, whether directing rehearsals, experimenting with recording and mixing, or developing original arrangements, and applying them in authentic contexts. Through guided practice and peer collaboration, students gain hands-on experience translating their knowledge of a cappella into actionable skills for ensemble leadership, classroom teaching, and creative artistry.
