As an executive board, we draw inspiration from Frederick Douglass’ lifelong commitment to advocacy, education, equity and inclusion. These principles guide our work today. In honoring his legacy, we strive to celebrate our diverse campus community and create a welcoming environment for all WCU faculty and staff.

Through joint community service projects, social gatherings, educational experiences, and other opportunities for collaboration, we seek to build community and strengthen our bonds across campus. We also feel strongly that it is our responsibility to promote educational access, and we are proud that we can award scholarships to WCU students to support their educational pursuits.

Together, we commit to building connections, fostering belonging, and carrying forward Douglass’ enduring belief in the transformative power of learning and community. We would love you to be a part of this effort and invite you to join us at our events this academic year.

Sincerely,
The Society Executive Board
