Dr. Hodes has spent over 26 years as a practitioner and administrator in Student Affairs. She currently teaches all of the specialty courses in Student Affairs (Introduction to Student Affairs, Leadership and Management in Student Affairs and Theories of American College Student Development), Field Experience (Practicum and Internship) for Higher Education Counseling/Student Affairs and Fundamentals of the Helping Relationship.

Her scholarship interests include understanding the professional identity development of student affairs practitioners, understanding graduate student success, creating change via collaboration in higher education, civility on college campuses and strengths-based leadership and practice. She has published a number of articles on successful student success practices created through collaboration. She has presented at a number of local and national conferences since her faculty appointment in 2012. In 2015 she was the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Scholarship Award from the ACPA Commission on Graduate and Professional Preparation. She has received three grants which have allowed her to become a Certified Strengths Facilitator (Gallup). She facilitates training on Strengths-Based Learning to on and off campus groups.

Dr. Hodes is the Higher Education Counseling/Student Affairs Co-Coordinator. She serves on many committees within the Counselor Education department and at the University including CAPC (Curriculum and Policies Committee), The Advising Task Force, The Engagement Theme Team (Strategic Plan) and the LGBTQA Advocacy Committee. During the summer, Dr. Hodes serves as the Faculty Coordinator for First Year Student Scheduling. She is also the Faculty Advisor to the Graduate Student Association.
