After a career as a newspaper editor, Lee received his M.F.A. in fiction from the University of South Carolina in 2002. He has worked as a writing teacher and in writing program administration at Louisiana State University and at South Carolina, where he is working on his dissertation, on TA education and professionalization. He has edited and co-authored with his wife, Brooke Rollins, several writing textbooks and readers, among them Present Tense, Green, and Food.
