Scholarships

The History Department is pleased to announce the 2016-2017 scholarship application period has begun. Undergraduate scholarship applications are due Friday, March 18, 5:00 PM.

To use PDF application forms click on the link, which will open a PDF file that can be edited. To save changes:

  1. click save as,
  2. name the file,
  3. and save as a .pdf file
For best results, use Adobe Reader or Preview (Mac).

Robert E. Drayer Undergraduate Tuition Scholarship (up to $2000; 5 available)

Robert E. Drayer Undergraduate Book Scholarship (up to $500; 6 available)

Eligibility: must be enrolled in a BA History program, have completed at least 30 credits and two WCU history courses at the time of application, and must demonstrate academic merit. Two Drayer tuition scholarships will be awarded to students planning to student teach based on academic merit and financial need.

Procedure:

  1. Fill out this Robert E. Drayer Undergraduate Tuition Scholarship application, including your statement explaining how a Drayer Scholarship will further your personal and academic goals.
  2. Attach the PDF form and an electronic copy of your unofficial WCU transcript (from MyWCU) in an email to eurban@wcupa.edu by Friday, March 18, 2016, 5:00 PM.

Helen Tapper Ivins Social Studies Certification Undergraduate Scholarship (up to $1,250)

Eligibility: must be enrolled in a BA History program with Teacher Certification, have completed at least 30 credits at the time of application, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and be prepared to write a letter of thanks to the donor.

Procedure:

  1. Fill out this Helen Tapper Ivins Social Studies Certification Undergraduate Scholarship application, including your statement explaining why you want to become a teacher.
  2. Attach the PDF form and an electronic copy of your unofficial WCU transcript (from MyWCU) in an email to eurban@wcupa.edu by Friday, March 18, 2016, 5:00 PM.

Michael C. Grey Undergraduate Award ($250)

Eligibility: must be enrolled in a BA History program, have completed at least 54 credits at the time of application, have a GPA of at least 2.5, demonstrate concern for humanity or the environment with a record of community or extracurricular involvement, and be considering graduate studies.

Procedure:

  1. Fill out this Michael C. Grey Undergraduate Award application, including your autobiographical statement.
  2. Attach the PDF form and an electronic copy of your unofficial WCU transcript (from MyWCU) in an email to eurban@wcupa.edu by Friday, March 18, 2016, 5:00 PM.

Robert E. Drayer Graduate Tuition Scholarship (up to $5,000)

Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in the MA History or MEd Social Science program, and demonstrate academic merit.

Procedure:

  1. The Scholarship application will be available following Spring Break.
  2. Attach the PDF form and an electronic copy of your unofficial WCU transcript (from MyWCU) in an email to eurban@wcupa.edu by April 8, 2016, 5:00 PM.
