Registration

Registering for classes is an important step each semester to move your closer to your goal. The Registrar's Office is here to support your path and answer questions about registration errors, how to add or drop classes, and how to read your degree audit.  Below is information on how and when students can register for courses, and what classes are available. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic adviser before completing any registration activity.

Getting Ready

1. Check for your Registration Time

Students are assigned a "time ticket" which is the time and date that you are permitted to start registering. Once assigned, the day and time you can begin registering for the upcoming term is published on your Registration Dates card in RamPortal.

View your Registration Time

  • Login to RamPortal and find your "Registration Dates" card
  • This card displays your registration window for the upcoming semester.

Instructions on how to see your Registration Time is found at the beginning of the Register for Classes instructions.

2. Review your Degree Audit

The Degree Audit helps you track your process toward degree completion by showing you how your courses apply to your requirements and how close you are to degree completion! Your advisor or the Registrar's Office may also leave notes on your Degree Audit about your degree progress. If you think something looks wrong about your degree audit, please reach out to the Registrar's Office or your Advisor.

Each student has access to their Degree Audit through RamPortal.  To get to your Degree Audit, login to RamPortal and locate the "Degree Audit" card.

4. Meet with your Advisor

It is recommended that all students meet with their academic advisor prior to registering for classes to ensure their plan moves them closer to degree completion and that all classes fulfill outstanding requirements/credits. Reach out to your academic advisor for an appointment soon after learning your Registration Date/Time as meetings often fill up quickly.

Who is my Advisor?

  • Login to RamPortal at ramportal.wcupa.edu
  • Find the "My Advisor" card on your homepage.
  • Your advisor's name and email will be displayed on the card.
    • If you have more than one major, you may have multiple advisors.

5. Build a Plan

The Plan Ahead tool in RamPortal is a great place to save your intended schedule before your Registration Time occurs.  You can also save up to three plans, like a Plan A and Plan B in case some courses are no longer available.

The benefit to building a plan is less searching for courses when your Registration Time comes.

How to Build a Plan

  • Login to RamPortal and find your "Register for Classes" card .
  • Click "Registration Info" button and, on the next screen, click "Plan Ahead"
  • Select your term and start saving classes.
  • When you are done, save your plan.

For more detailed instructions and tips on creating a plan, view the Registration Plan documentation.

6. Check for Holds

Before registering for classes, confirm that your student record is free of financial and administrative holds. We suggest you do this as soon as you get your Registration Time.  Holds on your account will prevent you from registering for classes, so it is important that you resolve your holds prior to your Registration Time, so you are not delayed.

While WCU tries to minimize the number of holds which prevent registration, there are a few. The most common is an unpaid bill from the current or prior semesters.
