Our Mission and Values
At Community Mental Health Services, we believe that mental health care should be:
- Affordable/Accessible
- Inclusive
- Compassionate
- Empowering
Our mission is rooted in the belief that mental health is a human right – not a privilege
Trauma-informed and Sensitive Support
It can be difficult to seek therapy when you are experiencing trauma – whether from abuse, neglect, violence, systemic oppression, or other overwhelming experiences.
Our student therapists receive specialized training in:
- Trauma-informed care
- PTSD treatment approaches
- Understanding the impact of trauma on the brain and the body
- Creating emotionally safe, empowering relationships
You are in control of your healing process. We will move at your pace, respect your boundaries, and work collaboratively to help you feel grounded, safe, and supported.
You don’t have to tell your whole story to start healing. Just showing up is enough.
Support for Racial Trauma
We are committed to supporting individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, with a special focus on healing from racial trauma.
Our student therapists receive special training to understand the unique stressors and experiences that come with navigating the world as a person of color.
Our team offers compassionate, culturally informed care in a safe, respectful space. Whether you're processing past experiences, coping with current challenges, or seeking support for your overall well-being, we're here to walk with you—honoring your identity, your story, and your strength every step of the way.
Let us help you with your healing journey.
LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
We welcome clients of all gender identities, sexual orientations, and relationship structures. Many of our student therapists have training in working with:
- LGBTQ+ adults and teens navigating identity, family acceptance, and relationships
- Gender diverse and nonbinary individuals
- People experiencing minority stress or discrimination
- LGBTQ+ individuals healing from trauma
We respect and celebrate who you are. If you have felt misunderstood or invalidated
in other therapy settings, we want to offer a different experience.
You are welcome here as you are.
