Dr. Frank F. Fry, Jr. started at West Chester University in 1991 as an adjunct professor in pedagogy and curriculum. He applied for an open position and was hired as a full time tenure track assistant professor in 1992 teaching in the teacher certification program and supervising student teachers throughout the surrounding area. He has been promoted to full professor and continues to teach in the teacher certification program as well as being elected department chair in 2008.
Dr. Fry has been involved in the Adventure Education Program at the University since 1998 when he took over the Rising Juniors Program. This is Phase I of the R. Benjamin Wiley Partnership Program that is directly under the supervision of the PASSHE system.
The University Adventure Program is housed in the College of Health Sciences and provides courses and programs to WCU student, as well as, outside entities, such as; community groups, athletic teams and corporate groups.
As a professor in the Teacher Certification Program, Dr. Fry has taught many of the classes offered in the department with the exception of gymnastics, for good reason. He presently teaches the introductory course in History and Philosophy of Sport & Physical Education to give him contact with several incoming first year and transfer students.
He continues in the role of advisor to several organizations on campus including the Men’s Lacrosse Club; Men’s Volleyball Club; the Outdoor Pursuits Club and the one that he is closest to Phi Epsilon Kappa, the department honors and service fraternity. Throughout his career here and while at previous institutions he has continued to officiate college and high school men’s lacrosse as a hobby.
