Minor in Coaching

The minor is designed for any individual, regardless of major, wishing to coach school age children.

Why Minor in Coaching?

Employment of athletes, coaches, umpires, and related workers is expected to increase by 23 percent from 2008 to 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.

Students will be exposed to a comprehensive curriculum stressing:

• Coaching techniques that lead to improved performance skills and strategy application
• Coaching management that includes business aspects, equipment, legal liability, hiring and parental relations.
• Sport psychology
• Practice management skills that get the most out of every hour athletes spend in practice

Internship

Students get practical experience coaching through a one semester coaching internship at any level.
