Organization – Adapted Physical Activities Club

The club focuses on professional and community activities that empower people with disabilities through sport. Some yearly activities include the Down Syndrome Buddy Walk, Beast of the East Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign and Camp Abilities PA at West Chester University

Organization - Phi Epsilon Kappa

Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity is a national professional coeducational honor fraternity for students pursuing careers in physical education, health, exercise science and related fields. Its purpose is to advance the field and serve the community. For example, Phi Epsilon Kappa regularly participates in Relay for Life. Members enjoy opportunities to interact with like-minded peers both socially and professionally, build friendships and develop leadership skills. If interested, attend the organizational meeting each fall or contact the club advisor Mr. Steve Uhlenbrock.

Organization - Physical Education Club (PEC)

The Physical Education Club focuses on having fun, learning new activities and professional development. A typical meeting involves participating in a novel or less-known activity such as Kinball or Washers followed by a social, occasionally with food. There are four officers who organize and implement club activities. If interested, contact club advisor Dr. Stanley Cramer.

Event - PSAHPERD Convention

PSAHPERD is the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Every November, PSAHPERD sponsors the state convention. Teacher candidates can choose from a wide variety of sessions in order to advance their professional knowledge and fulfill PPE hours. For more information, visit the PSAHPERD Homepage.

Event - Student Leadership Conference

Every year, WCU sends four or five teachers candidates to the Student Leadership Conference. The free two-day conference includes team-building activities on the Stony Acres Ropes Course, leadership training and presentations by leading members of the field. Students are anonymously nominated by the faculty.

News – Partnership with Paradise Farms Camp (2015)

The WCU Adventure Education Program recently concluded its second summer providing ten days of adventure activities for Paradise Farms Camp teenagers. The activities focused on personal and group development through a mixture of ground, low and high initiatives.
