Transfer Credit Center: Credit Evaluation Process
Admissions to WCU: Credit Evaluation Process
- Transfer credit evaluations are completed for students who apply to WCU.
- WCU does not have a maximum number of transfer credits we will accept, but there are degree and major residency requirements where a portion of the degree must be completed at WCU or another PASSHE institution.
- After you have applied, your official transcripts will be reviewed and your prior coursework will be evaluated.
- You will receive an email with next steps on how to access your transcript credit evaluation as well as view your Degree Audit

The Course-By-Course Evaluation
When your credits are evaluated, your transfer courses will fall into one of four categories. Here is what they mean for your degree:
- Specific Course Equivalency: The learning objectives for your previous class is a direct match for a specific WCU course (Examples: PSY 100, BIO 100, WRT 120). This checks off that exact requirement on your degree audit.
- Subject-Specific Electives: Your class fits into a specific subject area, but doesn't perfectly match a specific WCU course. These are labeled with the number 199 after the subject (Examples: PSY 199, BIO 199, PHI 199). These credits count toward your major or elective requirements in that subject or general credits towards your degree.
- General Transfer Equivalency: Your class doesn't match a specific WCU course or subject, but it still transfers. These are labeled as TRN 199. Keep in mind that these credits do not fulfill specific major or general education requirements—they simply count as general elective credits toward the 120 total credits you need to graduate.
- Rejected Equivalency: This equivalency is used for credits that cannot be accepted by WCU. There are several
reasons why a course would be rejected, and each reason is given a code:
- REJ Q00 = Remedial credit
- REJ 102 = Duplicate credit (Student completed the same equivalency course more than once)
- REJ 103 = Withdrawn transfer credit
