Transfer Credit Appeals

To Appeal an Equivalency on Your Evaluation

All students have the ability to appeal awarded equivalencies on their transfer credit evaluation.

Request a Transfer Credit Appeal

To have courses re-evaluated you must submit the Transfer Credit Appeal form , along with supporting documentation (such as the course description and course syllabus) to the appropriate academic department for review.  For example, to have a psychology course re-evaluated, you would submit your appeal to the Psychology department.

If an equivalent WCU course does not exist, but a student is seeking to use transfer credit to fulfill a degree requirement, they should discuss a Course Substitution Request with their advisor.

Department Chair Reviews the
Appeal Request and Documentation

Using the documentation provided by the student, the department chair compares the learning outcomes of the external course to WCU's available courses.  If a match is found, the department will indicate which course should be granted credit.  If no match is found after comparing learning outcomes, the student's original transfer credit assessment will remain.

Signed and Reviewed Form Submitted
to the Registrar's Office

Once the academic department completes their review, the form is submitted to the Registrar's Office for processing.  The Transfer Team will review the form and information submitted and make and necessary changes to the student's academic record. Any approved changes to transfer credit will be posted to the students WCU transcript and reflected on the Degree Audit.
